Tradition and innovation in the third generation.

Our history begins in 1968 with the founding of Helmut Vollmer Leichtmetallbau GmbH, an assembly business for aluminium profile sheeting. At the time this construction method was still young and regarded as an innovative solution in German industrial and building construction. After four successful years in the market, 1972 set the course for what followed: the business was divided, and alongside it Vollmer Aluminiumhandel GmbH & Co. KG and a holding company were formed. The companies were led by Helmut Vollmer, supported by his wife Susi Vollmer.

These companies laid the foundation of today’s Vollmer Gruppe. With them began an entrepreneurial path shaped from the outset by empathy, a spirit of innovation, trust in fair partnerships and a high standard of quality. In the years that followed the group grew steadily and broadened its reach: VWS Befestigungstechnik GmbH joined in 1981, bmt Bürsten- & Maschinentechnik GmbH in 1992.

Helmut Vollmer never saw entrepreneurship as a solitary undertaking. He gave people the chance to realise their own ideas alongside him as equals, to take on responsibility and to grow with it. What we would call a business angel today, he simply practised back then out of conviction. Having founded a company himself, he knew how demanding the early years are. That is why he cared in particular about supporting young entrepreneurs through exactly this phase, giving them his trust and standing by them with advice and practical help.

Today we lead the Vollmer Gruppe in its third generation. We offer our companies a strong shared infrastructure and the experience of more than five decades of entrepreneurship. Our collaboration thrives on a close sense of togetherness, short paths and open exchange. As a modern family business we keep developing, and we also invest in companies beyond our traditional fields. Our DNA has stayed the same across the generations: think like an entrepreneur, recognise opportunities, take on responsibility and place trust in people.
